About the Speaker:
Cara began her nursing career at Algonquin College graduating as a Registered Practical Nurse, later bridging to become a Registered Nurse. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing and the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Graduate Diploma at the University of Ottawa. Over the past 15 years, she has worked in multiple clinical settings at The Ottawa Hospital and the Cornwall Community Hospital and is also a Certified Perioperative Nurse with extensive acute care and surgical experience. Cara holds specialized training certificates in primary health care, medical weight management, medical foot care, cosmetic dermatology, and advanced injection procedures. She is a Certified Bariatric Educator and a licensed Podortho Nurse with expertise in diabetic and advanced foot care. Since 2021, she has operated her independent Nurse Practitioner clinic, Cara Health, in rural Moose Creek, Ontario, where her multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive primary care, mental health, women’s health, dermatology-focused services, and evidence-based medical weight management, including the assessment and management of complex and rare forms of obesity.
