Why participate?

The 12-lead ECG is one of the most common tests ordered in primary care, and one of the easiest to misread. Computer interpretations can miss key findings, subtle patterns can hide in plain sight, and the real question is often not just “what is this?” but “does this patient need to be seen today?”

ECG interpretation is also hard to learn all at once. Covering everything in a single session often leaves clinicians more overwhelmed than when they started. The ECG Interpretation Course takes a different approach. Across 4 interactive sessions, you will build a systematic approach one layer at a time, starting with the fundamentals and moving through bradycardias and conduction blocks, palpitations, tachyarrhythmias and atrial fibrillation, and ischemia and other high-risk patterns.

Each session includes teaching, real ECG tracings to work through together, live polling and Q&A. Practice tracings for each session help every new skill stick before the next one builds on it. Can’t make it live? Every session is recorded, so you can catch up on anything you miss and revisit the material anytime.

Agenda

  • ECG Fundamentals: Building a Systematic Approach

    March 4, 2027
    7 to 9 PM ET

    Learning objectives

    1. Describe ECG fundamentals, including lead placement, paper speed, and the view of the heart provided by each lead.

    2. Outline a systematic approach to assessing rate, rhythm, axis, and intervals.

    3. Recognize a normal ECG, common normal variants, chamber enlargement, and technical errors such as lead reversal.

  • Bradycardias and Conduction Blocks

    March 11, 2027
    7 to 9 PM ET

    Learning objectives

    1. Differentiate sinus bradycardia, junctional rhythms, and first-degree, second-degree, and complete heart block.

    2. Recognize bundle branch blocks, fascicular blocks, and paced rhythms.

    3. Identify which bradycardias and conduction blocks, including medication-related causes, can be monitored in primary care and which require urgent assessment.

  • Palpitations, Tachyarrhythmias, and Atrial Fibrillation

    March 18, 2027
    7 to 9 PM ET

    Learning objectives

    1. Differentiate benign premature beats from tachyarrhythmias that require urgent assessment, including supraventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter, pre-excitation, and ventricular tachycardia.

    2. Describe the primary care management of atrial fibrillation, including stroke risk assessment, anticoagulation, rate control, and indications for referral.

    3. Compare ambulatory ECG monitoring options and how symptom frequency guides the choice of investigation.

  • Ischemia, High-Risk Patterns, and Putting It All Together

    March 25, 2027
    7 to 9 PM ET

    Learning objectives

    1. Identify high-risk ischemic patterns, including STEMI equivalents, that require emergency assessment.

    2. Distinguish ischemia from common mimics, including left ventricular hypertrophy with strain, pericarditis, and early repolarization.

    3. Recognize ECG changes associated with medications, QTc prolongation, and electrolyte disturbances.

How does it work?

Register once for access to all 4 accredited sessions, live or on-demand.

  • Join live: Attend the sessions on Thursday evenings in March 2027, work through ECGs in real time with live polling, and ask your questions during the Q&A.

  • Learn on-demand: All sessions are recorded and added to the NP Circle platform, so you can watch at your own pace and revisit them anytime.

Each session runs for 2 hours:

  • Interactive teaching and practice (90 minutes): Learn a new layer of ECG interpretation and work through tracings together right away.

  • Live Q&A (30 minutes): Ask your questions and work through challenging tracings.

  • Practice workbook: Download practice ECGs for each session, so every new skill sticks before the next one builds on it.

Complete all 4 sessions to earn 8 ANCC contact hours. A certificate of completion is available to learners who meet the activity requirements.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for NPs working in primary care, urgent care and other settings who order or interpret ECGs and want to build a confident, systematic approach.

Family physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals are also welcome.

No advanced ECG experience is needed. The course starts with the fundamentals and builds step by step, so it suits clinicians learning ECGs from the ground up as well as those looking to refresh and sharpen their skills.
